The Leadership Team and Governors welcome you to The Limes College website. This site is designed to share with you some of what we do; however, if you desire to know more please come and visit. We operate an open-door policy and work with people from all agencies and areas of the community. The Limes College is a school that works with children, young people and parents who have found themselves in some way unable to access mainstream education. This maybe through unmet needs (sometimes referred to as special educational needs) or complex life circumstances.
Our job is to educate and we start with assessment to find out where our children are in their education and consider family circumstances; for example, why they maybe finding it difficult to access education, then we build relationships and provide support.
We believe that children are part of a family and community and so need to be supported in that context. We believe children need to BELONG, build positive RELATIONSHIPS,then ACHIEVE and MOVE ON into positive destinations. We have a declaration of our educational intent on the website which gives you more detail and it is about knowledge, skills and an entitlement to education that empowers and allows children to grow, to find their place in the world and contribute to the rich and diverse community in which we live.
We have some students who stay with us for very short periods like a few weeks and some who will stay with us for longer- some for a number of months and years. This will depend on what support they need. The main aim of the provision for students is to assess them and get them back into appropriate provision; this could be back into mainstream or Special School. We educate a number of students in our own specialist provision, including both bespoke education packages anda provision for children who have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) and need small group support due to their learning needs (for example, speech, language and communication).
We are part of the community of schools in Sutton and the wider community of Special Schools, Pupil Referral Units and Alternative Provision through the Multi-Academy Trust we have established with The Beckmead Family of schools in Croydon called Moving Education. The Trust is based on the core values of LOVE -Leading to unconditional relationships; FLOURISHING all areas of life; SOCIAL JUSTICE - advocating for and empowering parts of the community that are marginalised and The Trust is about building healthy COMMUNITIES.
We look forward to meeting you and working with you in whatever capacity you come to us - as a student, visitor, trainee teacher, parent or an agency member of staff - you are welcome.
Emma Bradshaw, Headteacher
